I had no idea what I wanted to paint. It was very frustrating because I knew in my heart that I wanted to paint professionally \u2013 but I simply didn\u2019t know where to begin. I often wondered at this stage if I should ditch this hare-brained idea and immerse myself in my day job \u2013 but it was too late \u2013 I was already smitten! Eventually I decided to paint flowers but it soon became apparent that the loose style of painting simply wasn\u2019t for me. It was at this time I started to think about botanical art.<\/p>\n

Having bought a few books, I began to practice, but was always disappointed with the results. I needed the work to be much more structured and tighter. So, after a good deal of practice I developed my famous \u2018pull and wiggle\u2019 technique \u2013 a method that I now teach to my students.<\/p>\n

During 2010 I approached Westons Cider who produce cider and perry at their factory in Much Marcle, Herefordshire \u2013 the timing was perfect as they were seeking to record their orchard fruit, for prosperity. The collaboration was a resounding success. I suppose you could say this is where it all began.<\/p>\n

In 2012 I gave up my job in the legal profession to devote my time to painting professionally and have never looked back.<\/p>\n

I work entirely from photographs \u2013 this makes my job so much easier. I begin by taking an overall compositional shot, followed by a series of close ups so that I have an accurate record of each section. From this, I produce an accurate, clean drawing. Once I am happy with it, I begin to paint!<\/p>\n

My paintings have a modern, contemporary feel and are often larger than life.<\/p>\n
